Her other survivors include her loving parents, sister and brother-in-law (Sun Hi Lee and Gary Schwartz), brother and sister-in-law (Sunho and Lynn Lee), her beautiful nephews and niece (Brandon, Ryan, and Matthew Lee, Ethan and Adela Schwartz), and all of her cancer survivor patients. Sunny is survived by her most beloved son Skip and husband Joh Rosamilia. Her dedication to her patients was unsurpassed. SunnyвЂ™s passionate candor allowed for an unabashed embrace of the things that most interested her her fondness for Despicable MeвЂ™s minions is well-known and derives directly from her sunny disposition. She was an avid knitter, calligrapher, and reader of mystery novels. Time with her family was most precious to Sunny, including summers spent with her entire extended family in Ocean City, NJ. She was also a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Society of Breast Diseases, the American Society of Breast Surgeons, the Association of Women Surgeons, and the Society of Surgical Oncology. Sunny was most proud of her membership in the Philadelphia Academy of Surgery, serving on its board as the Recorder from 2013 to 2016.

Her leadership within the field of Breast Surgery included professorship and practice at Hartford Hospital and University of Connecticut School of Medicine for 4 years, serving as Assistant Director at the Jefferson Breast Care Center at Thomas Jefferson University, establishment and directorship of the Breast Health Program at Aria Health, and finally as the Associate Director of the Janet Knowles Breast Cancer Center at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper. Subsequently, in 2004 she underwent a fellowship in Breast Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. After a three-year hiatus for medical therapy, her focus shifted to womenвЂ™s health and specifically the care of cancer patients.

Following this, she was appointed Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and as a trauma surgeon at Brandywine Hospital until her professional life was interrupted by her first bout with cancer in 2001.

She completed an internship and residency in surgery at Pennsylvania Hospital in 1996, going on to a fellowship in trauma and surgical critical care at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. In 1986, as a means to embark on a more fulfilling career, she entered medical school at Cornell University Medical College. Initially, she pursued a career in international banking at Manufacturers Hanover Company as a Vice President. Sunny matriculated to Harvard University and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1980 with a degree in East Asian Studies. Midway through high school she immigrated with her family to the United States and graduated with honors from Abington High School. Sun Yong вЂњSunnyвЂќ Lee, M.D., FACS, a trauma then breast surgeon, passed away at age 58 after a fierce battle with cancer on Thursday, December 15, surrounded by her loving family.Д«orn in Seoul, Korea to Choong Jip and Yusun Lee, she spent her formative years in Okinawa, Japan, attending Christ the King School.
